Before committing to a site
Discuss the ground information available and the questions that need investigation.
MGS supports commercial, industrial and data-centre projects with geotechnical investigations and construction-stage services matched to the development. From early ground-risk review to investigation, earthworks supervision and founding inspections, we help project teams obtain the ground information needed for design and construction decisions.
Request a scoped proposal
We review available information, plan investigations and identify the ground questions relevant to the proposed development.
The agreed investigation considers the ground profile and variability, addressing the foundation, settlement, excavation or groundwater questions included in the scope.
Planned earthworks supervision, compaction testing and relevant founding inspections help document the agreed construction-stage requirements.
We coordinate the agreed geotechnical information with civil and structural designers, surveyors and the construction team. Responsibilities and deliverables are identified in the proposal.
Share the proposed development layout, current design stage and the decisions the ground investigation needs to support. Available drawings, earlier reports and information about proposed excavation or earthworks help define a useful investigation scope.
Where the project is at an early stage, identify the uncertainties that affect the next decision. Further investigation can then be discussed as the proposal develops, rather than assuming the same scope suits every commercial site.
For an operating site, describe access restrictions, site contacts and any attendance requirements. Tell us the programme for design and construction so site work, testing and reporting can be discussed together.
Agree the report outputs and responsibilities before booking. Ground investigation, environmental sampling, structural design and construction-stage verification have different scopes; confirm which services are included and which need separate specialist input.
We scope the geotechnical work around the project’s development stage, structural requirements, earthworks and construction programme. The investigation and reporting address the ground questions identified with the design and delivery team, with further construction-stage services agreed where required.
Share the site, proposed development, available reports, design questions and construction programme. We can help identify the appropriate next stage of investigation.
